Q. How do I upload a custom logo / top banner?

A. You can modify the top banner to include your club information, but you do need to be able to edit images locally. Here is how:

  1. Visit your admin area (administrators only)
  2. Scroll down to the "Upload Custom Logo" section
  3. Click on the "preview the logo templates" link
  4. locate the template that you want to use and right click on the image to begin download to your local PC
  5. Open that image using any image editing software (such as PhotoShop or The GIMP) and add your Club name, or completely create your own banner -- just stick with the same dimensions.
  6. IF you are looking for a free photo editor you might want to try paint.net http://www.getpaint.net/ or these online tools http://www.picresize.com/ or http://www.drpic.com/
  7. The file name should not have any spaces or special characters
  8. Go back to "Upload Custom Logo" section, upload your logo, click „update website settings“ at the bottom of the administration page.
  9. To see the new logo you may have to click F5 to refresh your browser, or clear your browser cache / temporary internet files.

* if you make sure your logo is logo is EXACTLY 670 pixels wide by 75 pixels tall, check the box so your logo will not distort.

If case anyone trying this is as technologically challenged as me, I had downloaded a banner and altered the text for our club, but inadvertently saved it as a tif file. Even though it said the dimensions were 670 x 75 pixels, as required, apparently it wasn't. So, after reading the comments above, it finally clicked that I needed to save as a jpg file - and it worked beautifully. Wanted to pass that along in case it helps someone else.

A couple of important things not mentioned in the Answer above are that: 1). The name of the banner image file has to be the same as the file that's currently being used. It seems this is usually TemplateName_TOP.JPG . For example, in my case I use the TI2 template, so the banner file I edited and uploaded had to be named TI2_TOP.JPG. 2). Assuming you used the "Upload Custom Logo" box in the Site Admin page to indicate the logo file to use, you have to press the "Update Settings" button at the bottom of the page for the file to actually take effect. This probably should be obvious, but it wasn't to me. 3). After the settings are updated, you have to clear your browser cache and Refresh the page before you will actually see your logo. Regarding item one, perhaps there is a way to change the name of the file to use by editing the INDEX.HTML page, but I am very new at this and didn't see a way to edit the header portion of that HTML file. FAQ Admins: It took me almost an hour of searching all through the forums to find all this out, so I'd strongly suggest that the FAQ be updated to include this information for the benefit of all the newbies out there. Thanks for your hard work guys!! mighty860.freetoasthost.us

More that is not mentioned above (as in where is the club name actually maintained (hint, it is NOT the title on the HTML main page maintenance screen): What you want is 2/3rd of the way down the main site administrator page and is in the section called: Upload Custom Logo It is NOT a banner, a title, a club name (all these listed in hopes that someones elses search for any of the previous will get a hit on this FAQ!) Within the paragraph is a link to jpg files that you can download and use paint to modify. Jose3rd --- THANK YOU your instructions made the upload trouble free. Best, Audrey
